Petey spent the day with Elbert at the Chinese New Year 2012 Parade in Los Angeles
What a fun day! Michael went with Petey and me to Elbert’s house. We walked with Dan, Elbert, Carol, Doug and Sam to the Chinese New Year 2012 Parade in Los Angeles.
After the parade we walked to Chinatown along with the other parade goers. There was quite a crowd and a great opportunity to see Elbert work and for Petey to experience the sights, sounds and closeness of the people. Petey handled it like a pro. Elbert, as usual, was impressive as can be!
After the parade we went back to Elbert’s house where Elbert and Petey got to play together.

R.I.P. Jojo
It is with great sadness that we say good-bye. You were a very special Guide Dog puppy who grew into a wonderful Working Guide Dog. I am so proud of you and all the wonderful years you gave to Sally. She just told me that you were her best friend.

Stanley, Pilot’s brother, and his active duty Marine partner
Meet Stanley, a GDB puppy whose career path took him on a very different journey than most of our puppies. He was donated to an organization called Paws’itive Teams and matched with the perfect partner — an active duty Marine who lost both of his legs during his duty in Afghanistan and will be receiving his formal discharge this coming year.
Stanley is a great match — friendly, dedicated and eager to please. He’s learned to fetch and deliver objects, open doors and much more. Check out this short video, showing the team working during transition training.
Nice job, Stanley! And thank you to this Marine and all our veterans for your sacrifices.
P.S. This will be confusing for anyone who knows the GDB puppy naming way. Stanley was originally named Patch – He is my Pilot’s brother. We are so proud to have him in our family. This is an example of how Guide Dog puppies change careers. Pilot is a working Guide Dog living in Baltimore, MD and spending lots of time in Washington, DC.

Road Trip and Guide Dog Graduation
Petey and I took a road trip to Guide Dogs for the Blind in San Rafael. We made a stop in Petaluma CA at the TWIT Brick House to watch the making of the Tech News Today Show. Fascinating! Met Leo Laporte too
We also went to Cotati CA to visit with my cousin and her husband. Could have talked forever.
Then to Guide Dogs for the Blind in San Rafael for the Graduation Ceremony. We met Andrew, Archie’s new partner. Archie is going to live in Calgary Canada. He is going to have a great life – will get to go to the gym too!
Petey was a great traveler – I’m sure we will do it again.

Diamonds in the Ruff meeting at Sycamore Park Diamond Bar 080611
This was a very fun meeting. Of course, Rick (our CFR) was there – we learn so much from him. We also received our Guide Dogs for the Blind appreciation certificates and puppy raiser pins.
